Why Aloe?
The aloe plant contains over one hundred and thirty biologically active compounds and a total of thirty four amino acids (the building blocks of the body), including seven of the eight essential ones, and all the other twelve non-essential amino acids.
The range of products which we provide are made from one of natures wonders. With the many nutrients contained in the aloe leaf, combined with additional herbs and chemicals the formulations have proven to be effective not only as beauty products, but also as remedies for the many ailments for which they are intended to cure or alleviate.
Aloe ferox versus Aloe vera:
Essentially the chemical compositions of Aloe vera and Aloe ferox are comparable. However, from scientific tests performed at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens in Cape Town, South Africa (January 1987), it was found that the amino acid content of Aloe ferox is almost double that of Aloe vera. Aloe ferox also contains a larger percentage of monosaccharide components in the aloe gel, higher concentrations of minerals, and approximately 20 times more aloe bitters (detoxifying and antibiotic qualities).

Q:
I am a diabetic on oral medication. I often have dizzy spells on the golf course. Is it related to diabetes? And od you have any advice on how I can prevent these dizzy spells?A:
Unfortunately, the prevalence of diabetes is increasing at a dramatic rate in our society. The advice I will be giving you in this column thus applies to everyone and not only to diabetics. It has been estimated that in 15 years time, one in three people will be diabetic - a really concerning fact.
Dizzy spells often are a symptom of uncontrolled diabetes.
Eating habits are often a cause of these spells.
First of all you need to know that your sugar levels are under control. Your medication may not be correct for you. Medication that is too strong or too weak for you may cause these dizzy spells. You need to go to your doctor to have your blood levels checked and your medication revised.
Research is showing that life style changes are just as important in controlling diabetes as medication. There are numerous practical tips to stabilize your sugar levels and thus reduce your dizzy spells. Being overweight is closely related to diabetes. I do not believe in diets, but do prescribe to good lifestyle eating. That is, learning to eat for life, something you can do every day for the rest of your life. A good dietician can help you with this.
Try to eat six small meals a day instead of three larger meals. Try to eat low glycemic foods. These kind of sugars (carbs)allow your blood sugar to be more stable. Always have a glucose sweet in your bag as these often relieve a dizzy spell. Although these tips may help reduce your dizzy spells, the most important thing is that you have your sugar levels properly controlled. Uncontrolled sugar levels will also affect your concentration and thus your golfing performance. It would be advisable to have your heart checked out at the same time. An abnormal heart beat or angina can present with the same symptoms. These dizzy spells could be the forerunner to a diabetic crisis.
Doc's tip
There are a few supplements that may assist with controlling blood sugar levels.
Chromium is a supplement that is vital for insulin (the hormone that controls sugar levels in your blood) to work properly. It is estimated that most people are deficient in this chemical element due to the fact that our soil is deficient in chromium. Consequently our vegetables are deficient in chromium. We therefore need to supplement our diets with chromium to normalize the levels in our bodies. Aloe Ferox have three products containing chromium - Slim and Trim, BodyBasics and Whole-leaf Aloe Juice.
Cinnamon is also useful in maintaining stable blood sugar levels.
There are many other supplements and herbs that may help diabetes.
